June 16, 2015

Storage Boost Football Team won second place in The Pursglove and Brown Charity Shield Football Tournament helping to raise over £1,750 for Miles of Smiles Chester.

On Sunday the 10th of May several local businesses came together to participate in The Pursglove and Brown Charity Shield Football Tournament 2015 at the Cheshire County Sports Club. This annual event has raised thousands of pounds for various local charities over the past few years. This year’s tournament was in aid of the charity, Miles of Smiles Chester.

The Pursglove and Brown Charity Shield Football Tournament is a great way to meet new local companies, raise money for charity and have plenty of fun in the process. The Storage Boost football team is made up of a mixture of staff members and customers. A few members of the team are employees from Palicomp that sells bespoke computers and AM Kennels that supplies high quality dog kennels. Both businesses that operate from within our modern facility. Stuart Quarterman the Assistant Manager at Storage Boost Crewe states ‘We have great relationships with all of our customers and we were thrilled that some of them offered to play for our team’.

After several matches in which the Storage Boost team didn’t concede a goal, they found themselves in the final round facing KDE Electrical, the winners from last year’s tournament. After an incredible game KDE Electrical won 1 – 0 and Storage Boost Football Club were awarded the Silver medals. Paul German, the manager of Storage Boost Stafford said ‘It was a good game and I think we’ve done really well. We have all had a lot of fun and it’s great to leave knowing that we have helped such an amazing charity in the process.’ The final amount raised is still to be calculated but it will be around £1,750.

Miles of Smiles Chester raises funds to provide ‘Once in a Lifetime Holidays’ for children who are suffering from a terminal or chronic illness, or who are recuperating from surgery or cancer treatments. Since Miles of Smiles was founded in 1991 they have sent over 300 children on holiday to either Disneyland or Lapland, creating special memories for children and their parents.
